Casa Sesta

Near Arezzo, Tuscany, Italy

Hilltop converted farmhouse and lodge with seven apartments sleeping 2 to 4 guests, with infinity swimming pool

Situated in the hills of the Valdarno Aretino, Casa Sesta looks out over the valley of the Arno from a hilltop perch 600m up, offering a truly spectacular view to rival any in Tuscany.

An ancient but newly restored farmhouse and hunting lodge will be your refuge during a holiday spent amidst the property's vineyards, olive groves and fruit trees

Flanking the farmhouse, a small consecrated chapel, still functional and dedicated to St. Clare, is a reminder that in earlier times Casa Sesta was a place of gathering for farmers of the area. A few elderly locals still remember walking up to Sesta with their families, at threshing time, to celebrate mass in the tiny chapel.

The forty hectares of forest belonging to Casa Sesta are part of a game reserve and a walk in the woods could mean an encounter with hares, pheasants, squirrels and deer.

Guests are also encouraged to relax at the pool, from which one can enjoy a magnificent panorama and spectacular sunsets looking out across the Pieve di Gropina.

The seven apartments - resulting from a careful rennovation of the farmhouse and hunting lodge - have been decorated and well equipped, with special attention being made to combine modern needs and comforts with the simplicity and fascination of styles from the past.

The farm of which Casa Sesta is a part produces Red Chianti D.O.C.G., as well as white wine. During your stay you are invited to taste these and other farm products and take part in the more important moments of farm life: from the pruning of the olive trees in March, to the harvesting of fruit in summer, the grape harvest and vinification process in September and October, to the late autumn gathering and pressing of the olives for the production of olive oil.

Thanks to its central position, Casa Sesta is a perfect holiday base from which to visit the Tuscan art cities of world renown such as Florence, Siena and Arezzo, along with the possibility of discovering the more hidden and remote spots (but no less amazing) of Tuscany, rich with history and natural beauty.

During your stay, the owners can advise you on natural itineraries for either hiking or mountain biking, or historical and gastronomic itineraries, which take you through breathtaking towns and countryside.
